As per the American Society of Plastic Surgeons’ report for 2014, people from almost all age groups are open to getting their bodies enhanced with cosmetic procedures. While breast augmentation still tops the list of the most preferred cosmetic surgery, the demand for eyelid surgery has also increased significantly over the years. The total number of cosmetic surgeries performed last year was a whooping 1.6 million. On the whole, more than 15 million (15.6 to be precise) cosmetic procedures were performed last year, which included about 13.9 million minimally cosmetic procedures like botox and chemical peels.
What does the report say about eyelid surgery
As per ASAPS’s 2014 report, around 207,000 people in the U.S. opted for an eyelid surgery. Though compared to 2013, the number did come down four percent, but the procedure still is among the top five cosmetic surgeries of 2014. In 2014, the number of people going under the knife for an eyelid surgery was 206,509, where as in 2013, 215,641 opted for it. When compared to the figures from 2000, when 327,514 people underwent the surgery, the figures showed a drop of 37 percentage. Interestingly, the surgery is still widely preferred all over the country and ranks fourth most popular cosmetic surgery in the US.
